Okay, so here is my first post in this little community. And I only hope I don’t make a fool of myself…
I guess, I should start with what this portfolio is all about, and about our rescue.
Dusty, my fiancé, and I began rescue work almost two years ago, when we acquired seven fire-bellied toads, all abandoned at the local pet store. Since then, we haven’t stopped. We’ve to date rescued over 21 different geckos, lizards, and toads.
However, as with most rescue organizations, money is tight, and we have to look outside our jobs to try and raise some money for our critters. Ideally, we’d like to get some better supplies and enclosures for our little friends.
As many of you probably know, heating pads, special light bulbs, and a constant supply of food quickly adds up. So, beside some other fundraising projects I’m going to begin, I’ve decided, with the encouragement of some other artists, to make this portfolio project.
I’ve had some interest in this, which is why I’ve decided to try this project!
A local copy-shop has agreed to help us with printing, possibly even donating the whole first printing run! So that's good news for us indeed!
What I was thinking of for this portfolio was 10-12 full color pieces, of realistic-style anthro-herps, featuring both the species that we have here at the rescue, and of species often found as pets. I’d prefer these pieces to be done in traditional media, as I’d ideally like to auction off the originals eventually, and splitting the profit of each picture 50% to the artist and 50% to the rescue.
So yeah…Species that we’ve had here are:
Long Tailed grasslizards
Of course, I’d love so see some of the other beasties out there, snakes, anoles, and hey, who can resist tree frogs and packman toads?
So please, if you are interested in this project, please let me know! I’m not on any sort of a timeline here, and I’ll be updating this often. Also, please, spread the wrod about this project to other artist that you think might be interested in this.
